I’m not just a photographer, but I’m an avid automotive enthusiast. My first car was a BMW, and I’ve had one in my garage ever since. That hasn’t stopped me from dabbling with other brands, though.
My 2020 BMW M2 Competition
My current pride and joy is a 2020 BMW ///M2 Competition. It’s my second ///M, and actually my second ///M2. The previous ///M2 was a 2018 Life Cycle Impulse (LCi), which is BMW-speak for a “facelift” model within a current generation. The 2018 was special for a number of reasons, which I’ll detail in a separate blog post. To sum up, I’d still be driving it if it weren’t for a small issue of a freak blown motor.
BMW replaced the motor, but the value of a one-year production car was lost to me (VIN on the chassis no long matched the motor), and I was afforded a fantastic deal on a new (31km on the car) ‘20 ///M2 Competition…my fate was sealed to upgrade. The car was meant to be a dealer demo vehicle, but (and I’ll rarely say this) thanks to the COVID crisis, the German licensing office was closed and it was hidden away in the depth of the dealership waiting to be registered. It was spec’d exactly as I wanted, so I scooped it up.
I’ll have a few more posts on the car, the plans, the modifications, and the stories that go along with it…as well as some of my previous cars and projects. I typically hold cars for a long time for sentimental reasons. This is a very special car to me, and it’s likely that I’ll never part with it.
